Purification and serenity.
I have found a place to give myself purification and serenity when the world outside is no longer reassuring; a place of vacancy combined with an energy that is conjoined with faith in order to feel at ease again. It is a form of rejuvenation when nothing but uncertainty surrounds me. Sometimes a distraction is enough to escape the mind when it is uncertain, and other times it is an overwhelming sense of hope. In this case and in this moment, it is both.
I walked into the cathedral and admired the endless amount of interconnecting lines in the vault. The high ceiling and monumental design infused with tones of light and dark colors across the room released a feeling of intensity, constraining the atmosphere inside. I began to consider my reason for being there. It happened over time. I was given an opportunity to rebuild and reconnect with myself because I realized that something within me was missing. I needed to know what it was that I no longer had within myself. What was it that triggered my new sensory to the world? I walked through the hallway of dark brown wooden choir seats with lamps that lined each of the railings along each row. In front of every choir seat was a choir book. I ran my fingers across the cover of one of the books. The coarse texture against my fingertips created movement against the stillness of the room. The decor behind the choir seats had the appearance of gothic architecture, built of iron fencing. The ivory stone foundation covered the walls above the choir seats, the pillars, and the floor. Above the central archway hung a deep red curtain that wrapped slightly around the iron fencing, giving contrast to the shades of dark brown and black decor below. Towards the back, several arches, with the structural appearance of windows, lined the left and right sides of the walls along the top half of the cathedral, with the radiant sunlight shining through. Towards the east end, I entered an archway that ceased with two small gates. Behind the gates, towards the rear, was a large window. Within the large arch shaped window, small rectangular stained glass windows displayed religious figures. A yellow tint of light streaked across the stained glass, guiding me outside.
Reviving myself from the placid vibrations within the walls of the cathedral, I found myself castaway on the glistening sands of a vacant beach.
